When the demographic bulge is young, this young group places demands on the economic and social infrastructure with requirements for employment, housing and social services. A youth bulge takes place when thirty to forty per cent of a nation's males are between the ages of fifteen and twenty-nine. If these young men are well encouraged and nourished, have good housing and education, they could benefit the economy as well as profit the whole country due to the fact that young people are typically vibrant, resourceful and receptive to change. However, if they are ignored, unguided and unemployed, their energy can turn into destructive and caustic direction.
